Description

Become a fully qualified early childhood educator and develop skills in providing activities and care to children. You’ll learn to facilitate learning and play in order to enable children to achieve developmental outcomes.

Practical Placement

To achieve this qualification, the individual must have completed a total of least 280 hours of work in a regulated children’s education and care service in Australia as detailed in the Assessment Requirements of units of competency. The total number of hours may be applied collectively across all units of competency that include the requirement for workplace hours.

Entry Requirements

Entry to this qualification is open to individuals who hold a CHC30121 Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care or CHC30113 Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care.
Students are also required to undertake a Pre-Training Review and a Language Literacy Numeracy and Digital Literacy Assessment.
These will assist with determining suitability and relevance into course entry and identification of any support needs.
The ability to obtain a Working with Children Check - Working with Children Check & Police Check required for industry work placement.

Career Boost Eligibility for General Training Pathways

To access a subsidised training place under Career Boost, a student must meet the following criteria:

  • Be a Queensland resident
  • Not be a school student
  • Permanently reside in Queensland
  • Be an Australian citizen, or Australian permanent resident (includes humanitarian entrant), or a temporary resident with the right visa and work permits on the pathway to permanent residency, or a New Zealand citizen
  • Not be enrolled in another qualification, even if it is on hold or deferred, whether funded by DTET or not (foundation skills qualifications do not count).
    Note: This eligibility requirement does not apply to individuals seeking to enrol in a skill set
  • Not already have a certificate IV or higher qualification (including tertiary qualification) completed within the last 10 years (qualifications completed as a school student and foundation skills qualifications do not count).

This fee can be paid by an employer, a family member, a friend, or another organisation or a third party unrelated to the RTO but cannot be paid or waived by the RTO (whether directly or indirectly), unless approved in writing by the Department. The fee amount represents the total cost to the student, including any enrolment charges (e.g. ID card fees), tuition, services and materials fees, and all other mandatory costs related to delivering training, assessment, and awarding the Qualification. This also includes costs such as criminal history checks, where required for Vocational placement or employment in certain occupations.
